Italy is Always Around Me

When my mom was a little girl in Italy, long before the world of the internet and fast airplanes, whenever someone wanted to say “get lost” they would say “vai a California” (go to California!).  Back then, California was as far away as the moon!  Luckily, technology has improved and Italy and California are just a 13-15 hour plane ride away.  You can wake up in California and go to sleep in Italy (or vice versa).  The world has become a much smaller place.  We can SKYPE with our loved ones on the other side of the world – see their faces – hear their voices!  It’s a true wonder 🙂

Even though the world is much smaller, travelling back and forth between Italy and California takes time and money.  It’s not something that we can do on a routine basis – it still remains a special trip and one that takes planning.  Luckily, though, I have many reminders of Italy in my own vicinities!

  1. I really hope that quality is preserved enough and prices too are at least justified.
When do you send me someone at the Galleria, in dowtown Milan…
There is an Autogrill bar & restaurant, just on its right I like to have some ‘aperitivo’ and ‘stuzzichini’ at, in good company ;o)…
By the way, I deleted the advanced blog about Italy I published also a link to this on, just because I’ve to study WordPress better and broaden the related project.
However on the new one I’m planning there will be also a very special and fast Course of Italian, ‘Turbo-It…lien’ ;o).
Livemocha just sucks even if it is free.

    • The quality is really very good…and the prices…well, they do have to transport them over the Atlantic (if that tells you something!). I have seen the Autogrill at the Galleria in Milan…as well as the Burger King! Caspita! Much better to have a “stuzzichino” at an authentic Italian establishment!

      • Wow, ‘Caspita’ (=wow) you wrote, brava… In Milanese we say ‘Ciumbia’ (unwritten stress on ‘u’).
In ‘via Dante’ there is also ‘Caffè Milano’ that I like to have a sumptuous aperitivo + stuzzich…oni (big ‘stuzzichini’) at, when I happen to pass by, also alone…
